As to the power supply, go to any computer stores near you look at the power supply of the sub $1000 computer, then you will know. The Power MOS transistors on those power supply is about $0.5 / unit directly from manufacturers in Taiwan, the regulator is about 2$ /pcs, then pls calculate the cost of the power supply !!!!!The same for key board. Just go to the computer stores and check with the sales what is the retail price !!!!!!! Let me tell you one thing, the serial mous on your computer, the chip (component) is NT 6.2 yen ( around 18 cent) sold directly from the component manufacturer to the mouse manufacturer, but the volume of each order has to be at least 100k units. The cost of components on those PCs are much cheaper than you guys can imagine on this thread. The I/O chips from SMC sold to those Mother board manufacturers in Taiwan is around $2.5 pcs . The chip set with 4 chips per set sold to those mother board manufacturers in Taiwan is around $25 per set in big volume. The DRAM price is around $3 for 16 MB one month ago, and geading toard $2.5, with currency depreciation in Taiwan and Korea, the price of those components for PCs is now even cheaper. The analysts did know those , and people on this thread did not either. They just shout loudly that CPQ can not make profit on those sub $1000 pcs, or those PCs did not sell , but without anything to back it up. I call this stupid !!!! |
