Fission Uranium (FCU-V) May 13, '14 has released assay results from eight holes drilled in the R780E zone at its Patterson Lake South property in Saskatchewan's Athabasca basin. Of particular note is hole PLS14-158, located on line 990E, the easternmost mineralized hole on the R780E zone with assays to date. The hole returned intervals such as 8.57 per cent over five metres in 2.58 per cent over 30.0 metres and 12.53 per cent U3O8 over 5.5 metres in 6.85 per cent U3O8 over 10.0 metres. All eight holes intersected wide intervals and six of the eight holes returned substantial high-grade assays. Assay highlights:

  • PLS14-158 (line 990E):
    • 30.0 metres (152.0 metres to 182.0 metres) at 2.58 per cent U3O8, including one metre (163.5 metres to 164.5 metres) at 22.02 per cent U3O8 and five metres (168.0 metres to 173.0 metres) at 8.57 per cent U3O8;
    • 10.0 metres (232.5 metres to 242.5 metres) at 6.85 per cent U3O8, including 5.5 metres (233.0 metres to 238.5 metres) at 12.23 per cent U3O8;
    • 4.5 metres (253.5 metres to 258.0 metres) at 3.53 per cent U3O8, including one metre (256.0 metres to 257.0 metres) at 11.95 per cent U3O8;
  • PLS14-144 (line 750E): 19.0 metres (127.5 metres to 146.5 metres) at 0.79 per cent U3O8, including 3.5 metres (132.0 metres to 135.5 metres) at 3.21 per cent U3O8;
  • PLS14-150 (line 915E): seven metres (219.0 metres to 226.0 metres) at 2.94 per cent U3O8, including 3.5 metres (220.5 metres to 224.0 metres) at 5.58 per cent U3O8.

Ross McElroy, president, chief operating officer and chief geologist for Fission, commented: "This is a solid group of assays with a large number of very strong intervals. They provide another large increase in confirmed mineralization at PLS at grades far in excess of the world average. We are particularly pleased with the high grades encountered by hole PLS14-158, which speaks to the potential strength of mineralization as we move eastwards. All in all, we continue to see excellent, continued growth at PLS."

Composited percentage U3O8 mineralized intervals are summarized in the table. Samples from the drill core are split in half sections on site. Where possible, samples are standardized at 0.5-metre downhole intervals. One-half of the split sample is sent to SRC Geoanalytical Laboratories (an SCC ISO/IEC 17025: 2005-accredited facility) in Saskatoon for analysis which includes U3O8 (weight percentage) and fire assay for gold, while the other half remains on site for reference. All analysis include a 63-element ICP-OES, uranium by fluorimetry and boron. All depth measurements reported, including sample and interval widths are downhole, core interval measurements and true thickness are yet to be determined.
