Pain, suffering was commonplace, the desire for ending of pain & suffering is as natural a response as the autnomic reflex is when you grasp a hot pan & immediately let go of it. No spirits are involved, the majority of human beings had nothing but endless physical toil daily in front of them and all the accompanying chronic ailments.
Then to be free of that endless worry & pain, the desire to reunite with your loved ones, ancestors, join the great warriors at the feasting table where no famine, disease or drought ever hits ( 72 virgins for the brave & faithful) |
