Some would describe as the better value rather than "cheap". I'm thrilled that I paid $300 with no contract instead of $750.
Boo, hoo for those that paid more for a better experience.

As we've seen with other software wars, when a certain threshold of dominance is reached, development money, corporate adoption, and other factors start to snowball to reinforce it.
Follow the money, the only threshold of dominance that matters. Development money and corporate adoption does.

On balance, Android is gaining all of the users leaving other platforms and iOS is treading water.
This is a pretty tired argument, since Android is not a company, and most Android phone makers are involved only to lose money. The amount of blood in the water is great enough that it has rumors circulating like sharks that Google may soon drop Android in favor of Chrome. 'What will happen if this trend continues for another year? Will there come a point where Chrome has so many more users that developing for Android will be put on the back burner?'

Follow the money!
