Dear SmoothSail,

I would open the case and check the fan on your CPU, to see if it is running. The fans can burn out after a while, and typically the firmware on the motherboard forces a shut-down when the temperature gets above a certain threshold.

CPU fans only cost a couple of dollars to replace, if that is the cause.

The fan you hear running may be the power supply fan, which is separate from the CPU fan.

Regards,

@Dima
