koan: The founders of the US had slaves. So if they were so wise then by logic they had to be immoral for having slaves, and if they didn't know what they were doing was wrong, then they were not wise. By todays standards anyway. So we had to change things.

You cannot have it both ways dude. Can you grasp the logic there????

We lasted so long because we did have very wise men (for their time period) guarding the country for many decades; and pure ass luck.

And the founding fathers could never have envisaged modern social science, or morality any more than they could envisage women voting or integration. None of that was thought of categorically until the 20th century.

The father of modern social science being the great Max Weber.
