Calorie wise, if you walk for 46 minutes, I guess depending on weight somewhat, is the equivalent of running 1.5 miles in 12 minutes. It's a lot less stressful on the joints as well. I recommend that every other day using weights. Pick 5 exercises of choice. Do 5 sets of each exercise each set being just 8 to 10 reps. The first set of each exercise is just a warmup with an easy lightweight to stretch the muscles so you don't cause an injury. You do just enough weight so that you can do 8 to 10 reps each time without failure. It's not painful at all. The warmup of each exercise is what makes it so easy. I take as much time as a I want between each set of reps.
