I think Carl Sagan so hit it out of the park with his book & film "Contact" for the rarity of such an event & vast distances that would require only the highest supertech to accomplish. That this meeting takes place on a tropical beach and the aliens projected themsleves as her father was a perfect touch. I have lived in the tropics and some cases you can survive but these islands can be absolutely brutal hells as well as paradises
