History of graphite mining in area goes back to 1867? - interesting ... i remember seeing plumbago for sale in hardware stores, right near the red lead, white lead, asbestos paste, etc ... you could get potassium nitrate cheap by the sack, flowers of sulphur, charcoal, make your own gunpowder ... cheap ammonium nitrate from the farm supply place, mix your own anfo in five gallon pails on the porch, take out those irritating rock humps on your cheapo road without an expensive contractor with a ticket, ah those were the days ... of all of those, at least graphite has a crack at getting permitted, should be fairly straightforward actually, being same element as coal but not nearly so filthy in production or use? |
