"anyone catch the first 10 minutes of Wall Street Week?"

Stephen, just caught WSW in Mountain Time.

Louis Rukeyser said that the market just didn't make sense this week, ignoring any kind of good news, & maintaining a "Bah Humbug" attitude.

Mary Farrell of Paine-Webber said that the long-term outlook for tech stocks was good. There are temporary short-term problems, but they will be long-term winners (she specifically mentioned ORCL & MSFT).

Harvey Eiser of Traveler's echoed her sentiments, saying that the tech companies were the "engines of productivity" that "change the world."

Allison Deans of Zweig Dimenna felt that earnings would be tough over the next 6 months with inability to raise prices in the face of increasing costs (eg, labor), but the 2nd half of '98 would be good after companies got a handle on things.

The 2nd half of the show focused on the tobacco industry.

Good investing!
