Pat:
I have never said that lawyers don't have some good uses(gg)
In regard to prices cuttings Dell loves that sort of action, prospers on it. When I saw that Dell cuts prices up to 42% in October
1996 it became obvious they were out to win the game.
Sorry to be repetitious, but here again is where Dell lives:
(from www.dell/com.news)
Dec 3 Price cuts to 14%
Nov 24 15 th record quarter
nov 21 fastest pc on planet
nov 3 desktop pc reduced up to 20 %
oct 27 workstation reduced up to 14%
sept 25 leading pc supplier to feds
sept 17 workstation rated best
sept 15 repeats as top windows pc supplier to education
sept 12 increaces buyback to 125 mil
sept 12 No1 in corporate dt sales
aug 19 record quarter
july 19 reinforces leadership in pc price/perf.
june 23 cuts prices agin on corp pcs
may 14 server leadership with prices cuts to 16%
april 28 slashes prices on desktops
march 6 stock repurchace to 50 mil
feb 25 industry leading performance
feb 1 dell begins internet sales
nov 11, 1996 big win in pc mag
sept 18 new price reductions
sept 11 slashes prices for win n and win 95
sep6 dell does it agin with servers
july 18 cuts prices again on corp pcs
july 10 server price cuts
july 2 overtakes IBM and HP in corp PC
Etc. etc
Dell handed HP and IBM their heads on a platter in July 1996,
18 months later they are back for more of same.
We will get perhaps double this number of price cutting reports
in 1998, might lose on a few press reports (guesses, predictions)
will win the battles in the marketplace that Dell choses to work in
A few days, a week, and that negative article will be long
gone and I hope forgotten.
Nobody knows what price cuts Dell can now implement because
of lower component costs.
Guess the stock will take a momentary hit though.
