Inode,
It is pretty much an even money trade by the time you consider price increases that go along with it. A total waste of regulation.
It's really hard to say what the net effect of a higher minimum wage would be.

One thought exercise is to imagine the two extremes:

1) $50/hour minimum wage
2) No minimum wage

Number one is just to demonstrate that there is a point where even a libtard would say, "No, that's too much!" That's also the point which will invalidate their claims that raising the minimum wage would not have any negative effects whatsoever.

Number two is meant to show that, if you got rid of the minimum wage entirely, not much will happen to wages as a result because, for the most part, the free market already dictates what wages should be. Of course, you want to stop those who want to exploit virtual slave labor, but we already have laws against that.

In reality, the "ideal" minimum wage would be in between those two extremes, of course. But it would probably be closer to #2 than to #1, because IMO the minimum wage should only set a floor on wages. It should not represent a "living wage" because (a) there is no limit to what is included in such a "living wage," and (b) not everyone needs a job that pays a so-called "living wage."
