OT: Iso, I'm semi-retired now... Debbie completely retires after next school year (she's older than I am but if anyone tells her I said that, I won't be posting anymore because I'll be dead...<g>)... beyond that, we'll see... I have plans, but still not all signed off on by she-who-must-be-obeyed... <ggg>
You can bet that my investments in farmland in Ohio and our No. Mich. farm and rural 2nd home properties will play a big factor in what we do beyond next school year -- and, yes, I hope things play out such that another year won't matter.
For now, just trying to enjoy life... the daughter (classical music teacher and rising band founder/song writer) is moving out next week, one year after graduating college at 20 yrs. old (I'm so jealous, it's hard to keep it from her), I have good, steady clients who let me set the schedule 75% of the time and end up averaging 2-3 days a week doing stuff I really enjoy (one reason being as that article you posted pointed out, there is a rapidly shrinking pool of oilpatch workers my age and somebody needs to hang around and pass the baton -- this one client I have is great: they are about half old guys like me with grey hair and beards and tons of both engineering and field experience... we have a lot of fun! We also work our butts off when required... |
