JPADS fascinate me. We needed that capability.

I remember one all night fight to recover a pallet of ammo that had fallen on the NVA side of the battle.
At one point SFC Grier and I saw NVA swarming all around the pallet and called in an artillery fire mission. The response I got was that they were told not to fire on any pallets being parachuted to us.

Then I was told by the arty guy that I needed to lead an assault to drive off the NVA. I told him there are only 2 of us Green Berets out here right now and we are low on ammo, but if you come over and assault with us, we will go with you. A few minutes later he called and said he had clearance to fire. And then asked, where do you want it?

The NVA pulled back. The ammo was not hit, and my teammates and Montagnards recovered the ammo at 1st light along with some AKs on dead NVA.

To the men on remote, small outposts or on small recon patrols getting emergency (AKA Redball) resupplies delivered literally on top of themselves, and in the middle of a gunfight, must seem miraculous.
