I'm glad Apple is getting into the smart home market.

I wonder however how many average people are going to enter it. Having a camera in my fridge might be handy if I need to know if I need to buy milk, but the cost and hassle is certainly a factor.

Like my Mac. When I leave in the morning I set it to start up when I think I'm gonna be home. Its not hard. Turning it on via phone is almost more of a problem. At night I have it set to turn off at a specific time and turn on at a specific time. Its not much of a hassle. I wish I could have more turn on and off times but I certainly don't need a phone for that.

As for a Nest thermostat, same deal. Setting it locally might be better than doing it by phone.

Now if I owned a giant mansion, it might be different, but not too many people own giant mansions.

Finding a decent mouse is a far bigger problem for me.
