Your opinion is valid, just as is someone's opinion that Apple could have fallen into the 300s if the iPhone sales and share trends has more closely followed the iPad ones. But either way, a bullish or bearish opinion is different from an objective risk measure such as beta. To outperform the market, you have to have an opinion that is more accurate than the objective measures, so by all means, someone who holds the opinion that Apple is on it's way back to profit growth should be acquiring shares. As you said, we need to wait a at least until the end of year or perhaps well into 2015 to get a better grasp if the stall in profit growth was a blip or a longer term shift.
