There are amateur Apple shorts that read this board. They deserve thanks no less than the "professional" Apple shorts for their "prowess" in beating AAPL down to sub-$400/share. ;)

Apple is the stock most commonly held on margin, which helped spike it up to its peak in 2012 and forced selling from margin calls were the biggest factor driving it down to the bottom in 2013.
AAPL did not decline to 390 because of margin calls. And, at AAPL's peak in September 2012 it was trading at less than a market multiple. There was no bubble in AAPL by any conventional definition and price did not confirm value at 600 and 500 and, certainly not, 400. For many reasons the market priced AAPL inefficiently. For those who exploited the inefficiency, it presented a significant risk-adjusted return opportunity.
