I am hoping and thinking they are simply motivated by short term fear.

Or maybe they recieved a margin call and had to sell, college tuition due, surgery, or other forced reason.

Or sometimes you sell one stock for a loss of 10% cause you want to invest in something else that recently went down 40%.

Seems stupid, but there could be good reasons. Maybe they were so bullish they sold to buy the leaps!!!! (can you tell I watch "Spin City" every week!)
