>>"A better question is what is the gun enabling,

It depends on perspective.

It is a viable and effective instrument to be used for justifiable self protection. It enables human beings to secure self, home, and loved ones at a level not afforded by institutions or government services.

When anything is used to cause harm to innocent people it is a crime. Lacking guns people choose other methods of hurting each other.

>>...and why do we see more and more LOSERS needing something to enable their murderous, suicidal desires.

This is a sociological issue. Our culture has gone through drastic changes over the last few decades. These changes are having unintended consequences. We should be looking at cause to help explain effect. If the cause were gun centered we would see more of these crimes in conservative dominions rather than in the hearts of liberal stomping grounds. We should be asking better questions about this.

Another better question is why the government has a woody about getting guns away from the conservatives in relatively uneffected areas, when clearly it is a problem centered in the urban corridors of the nation. What is going on in these areas that feed this problem and what can we do to reduce the "murderous, suicidal desires" where they exist?
