The fact is that WA state has the highest minimum wage in the country and yet, is one of the most prosperous states economically.

It became prosperous, then it could afford the negative economic impact of a higher minimum wage and still be ok.

If a less prosperous state, like Mississippi, West Virginia, or Idaho, passed such a high minimum, it would be a lot more harmful. The same amount of dollars would represent a larger amount of purchasing power, and at the same time the marginal employer would be generating less income and revenue per employee both in dollar and purchasing power terms.
