I don't think, based on her comments, she attributes her tireless efforts on behalf of kids and going the extra mile to write recommendations for them to schools she doesn't like to those things (cultural and religious influences). It seems just to be who she is--despite her professed cynicism she has seemingly dedicated her life to helping and improving the education world and giving young people a chance.
