<<Anyone can make cheap crap and they do.>> It will be a lot easier to refine and improve the quality of the Beats earphones than it would be to create an immensely popular subculture that enjoys the earphones and the streaming music service. Jimmy Iovine and Eddy Cue seem pretty in sync to me. While in the near term this acquisition may fly in the face of Apple's traditional emphasis on quality, in the long term quality issues should not be an issue. I also see this acquisition as critical for Apple turning around its revenue issues with iTunes and increasing its user base.
