TX is less biased than most places. The lesbian mayoral candidate didn't run on a gay platform. She'd been on the city council, been city controller, had worked in the oil industry for decades before that .... people figured it didn't matter who she went home to.

And it didn't for awhile. Finally, the gays got her pushing a gay agenda. And there you are.
