Yes. However, the question is whether it matters. We are putting a relatively small amount of additional CO2 into the atmosphere.

Over time, if we did nothing at all about it, perhaps it could be a problem. However, rational people understand that any potential real problem is years away, and during that time we will naturally move toward non-carbon or lower-carbon emissions. For example, over the next ten years or so there will be a substantial shift to natural gas which will make the already minor fossil fuel contributions to the problem far smaller.

50 years from now there is no reason to anticipate that the human contribution will be a factor at all. No one is saying to stop technological progress, AFAIK.

Even assuming we did NOT move toward cleaner fuels by virtue of their being cheaper, the evidence that this additional carbon is having a material effect is exceptionally flimsy, in part because of manipulation of the data and in part because the state of the art in computer modeling the process isn't that good.

At this point the jury is out, and we need to see actual evidence that (a) we are causing a problem, and (b) that we can do anything about it if we are. If and when those positions are established, we can decide whether it makes sense to spend money trying to do something about it.

I have no objection to researching it; but at this point in time we have far bigger problems to deal with.
