In 1945 my father was on his way to Japan. The plan at that time was to use small atomic bombs to destroy the Japanese defenses so that my father and the rest of the U.S. troops could storm the beaches with limited resistance. At the time there was no "actual evidence" that this could have harmed our troops in any way. Since that time they've come to the conclusion that it WOULD have probably been harmful to our troops. It also would have probably eliminated any chance that I would have been born. My birth wasn't any big deal, but the future of the planet earth IS, so don't you think it might be advisable to lean to the more cautious side on this particular issue?
