>> "Vouchers for vets"... brilliant. Nothing says you care about your war heroes quite like dismantling the VA system, cutting them a check, and saying "your on your own, son."

The point is to meet their medical needs, which VA is failing to do (and has for decades). Yet, it has plenty of budget.

There are specialized services that require an organization that is specialized. For those, the VA needs to be fixed. But it would be far more cost-effective to allow vets to choose their health care providers like everyone else.

My friend fell from his roof last week and broke his ankle. He went to the VA, a 100 mile drive, and received treatment, but he spent the entire day to do it. His wife told me, "Well, at least it was free." I pointed out to her it was NOT free, and he had paid in advance for it with 20 years of his life. It would have been far better for him to have been treated at a nearby facility without the hassle and expense of driving to the VA. At least he was able to get in the same day.

It is just common sense that leftwingers would never consider.
