Ramsey - Why do you believe that Japan may follow Korea down the same road, and yet you believe that we will have recovered in 6 months? Japan going south is the one scenario that really scares me, since they are a big enough consumer economy to drive us into recession (unlike the rest of the tigers).

Having said that, I suspect that Japan will not have to follow Korea - primarily because of its huge foriegn reserves - , but I admit that it is a substantial risk. It is one of the three main risks in the current crisis, along with the China risk, and the risk that Korea will wimp out on the necessary IMF reforms (and as a consequence will not get the money and will just make the situation worse). It is this risk/uncertainty that is killing the market right now, although why it should destroy the tech stocks so much more than the non-tech is a complete mystery. Assuming nothing else goes boom, I suspect that you are right that it will take 6 months for the market to feel comfortable that nothing else is going to happen.
