Energy Weekly: Crude Stays in The Range
But Structural Themes Persist
2 June 2014 ¦ 14 pages ir.citi.com

US Crude Exports at a 15-year High Whilst LNG Export Policy
Becomes More Accommodative; New High for Basrah Exports

‘Crude stays in the range but structural themes persist’, reflects Commodities
analyst Seth Kleinman
, ‘for the US continues its march towards becoming a net
energy exporter... according to March PSM data, US crude exports (246-k b/d)
reached their highest level since 1999 whilst PADD III crude exports (176-k)
reached an all-time high... all this crude headed to Canada due to export
restrictions, but following developments in the Black Sea, the push for a removal of
certain export restrictions (particularly for condensates) has intensified, with the
topic currently ‘under consideration’ by the White House... also, LNG exports
could also be larger than first thought
following the DOE’s proposal to
streamline the approval process and lift the ‘soft cap’ to 20-bcf/d from 12-bcf/d...
with a simplified process, involving a shake-up to the approval order, LNG export
approvals may be accelerated as well as the total volume of export capacity
increased’
