Ibxx and Eric,

December 15,1997 (From IBD)
Networkers: The industry is consolidating and faces new troubles as Asian economies implode.

THE OUTLOOK:
ALTHOUGH THE INDUSTRY HIT A ROUGH SPOT THIS YEAR, IT SHOULD SMOOTH OUT BY EARLY'98.
* UPSIDE: EQUIPMENT PRICE ARE FALLING AND OPENING NEW MARKETS. THE SMALL-TO MIDSIZE BUSINESS MARKET IS TAKING OFF. NETWORKING IS MAKING INROADS IN THE HOME. NEW TECHNOLOGY SUCH AS THE ROUTING SWITCH AND PRODUCTS THAT MERGE VOICE, VIDEO AND DATA NETWORKS SHOULD SPUR SALES.
* RISKS: still, '97 HAS SHOWN NETWORKERS ARN'T INVICIBLE. HIGH FROWTH CAN"T ALWAYS MAKE UP FOR PRICE WARS.MERGERS COUTINUE TO BE THE NORM AND DERAIL MOMENTUM.
ONCE TIED TO NORTH AMERICAN SALES, NETWORK COMPANIES HAVE WORKED HARD TO GO GLOBAL. THAT'LLHURT AS ASIAN ECONOMIES FALTER.

......................................................................

The whole article is still quite premising. It mentioned "Cisco Systems is the only one can keep up with high profit margin.
Now we know why Cisco has more inventory, it is a real good sign. Small to midsize business market take off.

Sorry I can not provide the URL.

I am not a short term holder, but do not like to see Cisco went down $7 in one day.

Best Regards
