How do you explain the *lack* of opposition in the 'seventies then?

(Not just lack of opposition... actually various religious denominations, such as Baptist, taking SUPPORTING positions rather than opposing? Facts are stubborn things....)

I can understand that now is now, and then was then, and that things change.

Sure.

But the Bob Jones and Liberty U. examples appear to be particularly cogent exemplars.
