Gene, >>>The real question is "will the market increase enough to compensate for the displacement?" <<<

Here's Intel's secret strategy - please don't tell anyone:

>>>When all is said and done, we are a manufacturer--a high-volume
manufacturer. And all the investment we put in technology and manufacturing capability is meant to produce things by the hundreds of millions. So for us to walk away from a market whose size is going to be measured in tens of millions of units per year, maybe bigger, is inconceivable.<<<

Further, I think they will be in all segments of the market - high-end, ultra high end, the highest end; and the low-end, the lower end and the lowest end. Sixty percent of US families are without computers and possibly ninety percent worldwide - Intel wants to be inside everything.
