You don't have to convince me that pro wrestling is very entertaining, T.R. Of course it is contrived, to a certain degree, but certainly very amusing. Once or twice a year (I wouldn't want to get addicted or anything), my teenaged daughter and I stumble across a match on tv and watch it, critiquing the men's bodies like guys do to women all the time, giggling and, of course, protesting to each other that we don't really like heavily muscled bodies all that much.
It's really sad when people start telling you to put on some clothes, or something!!! In our hearts and minds we are still all in our prime, and even those horrible three-way mirrors in clothing stores are confronted infrequently enough that we can usually avoid reality. The aging process is the most bizarre thing I have ever participated in, involuntarily of course, and to think that this is what we are all going to do until we die, finally realizing vital organs are malfunctioning, limbs are getting numb, skin is shriveling, wrinkling, and sagging, flesh sinking and becoming unfirm and stinking . . . yyuuckkkkkk!!!!!!
The only thing that make it bearable is that old cliche--consider the alternative!!!
Do you like the tv show Fraser also? It took me a long time to fully appreciate it, and sometimes it is slightly lame, but last week I saw a rerun of the old episode where he and his brother go ice fishing with his father, because Fraser wants to hear his father say he loves him. I was rolling around on the floor laughing, especially at the jokes about Miles' totally outfitted look, but also the sentiment was beautiful. |
