That's all it is. The stock market is a very large mass psychology experiment.
Surely you don't dispute that, no matter what the psychology, it is eventually trumped by what eventually happens. Hence Benjamin Graham's famous philosophy regarding the market being a voting machine (psychology) in the short run but a weighing machine (fundamentals, earnings) over time.
