<I think its a pretty good analogy. Both the Solar system and Monsanto will some day cease to exist.>

You could say that about anything I suppose... so maybe it's a good "universal analogy"... nice. :-)

<So far, so good. I don't think Monsanto will evaporate in my lifetime.>

I don't know how old you are... I expect them to blow up within a decade... but it may be a few years longer.

<Hate for MON does exist>

I'm sure... as for most things... including those who don't like Monsanto... and those who even hate Monsanto.

<but the hate that obviously exists helps to hold the share price down, enabling long term investors to prosper.>

Presuming the dislike is misplaced.

<This is similar to the tobacco stocks.>

Interesting assertion. Philip Morris and others survive and do business because they got (are still getting) through the process of admitting that their products are inherently unhealthy but those that don't care are free to partake anyway... in fact we may see a boon as they get into the pot business.

BUT, as an investor you should hope that Monsanto doesn't suffer a similar fate. It would be unlikely that GMO would be looked on in any way similar to tobacco or alcohol by FDA, courts, or Congress. Food is a whole different animal.

Once it becomes clear that inventors of GMO don't know how the genome actually works (no one does), you'll see an immediate smack down. It is not if, but when...
