The economy flourished because Volker SQUEEZED the economy to death with ULTRA high interest rates and then began lowering them.

ANY economy would do the exact same thing. You make money ultra tight then you gradually loosen it.

That's where a LOT of the Reagan revenues came from. If I had had the money in 1982 that I have now I would have just put MUCH of it into bonds. You couldn't lose.

You also couldn't lose on stocks that were sensitive to interest rates. You didn't need a brain back then to make money. You just needed money to make money.

Wasn't so great for the folks that actually had to work for a living. The unemployment rate stayed quite high for quite a while.
