If you want to promote respect for other people's property and discourage thievery and the sale of stolen goods, you'll want to file a report with all the information you have and let the chips fall where they may. I would.

The person who bought it on eBay had a lot of nerve asking that you unlock your property so that he could participate in its theft. Show him what it's like to be interviewed by a police investigator. He'll learn all kinds of things about the legal system, even if he cooperates. Education is a wonderful thing!
