Brian: hang in there, at least you're getting a response from this crowd. I have followed this thread for quite a while and believe they are normally quite friendly, but some of the recent volatility may have reduced their tolerance to "new" people. I was presumptuous earlier in a question to one of the regulars and never even got an answer, so at least you're having fun. I still have five PCs in the house (back to 286) and have been in Iomega forever (still have a Bernoulli 44 (meg) installed in a 486 and have a Bernoulli 90 "portable" - kind of a precursor to the PP Zip, which, by the way, I have also). My wife (a consultant)just bought a 233 Mhz laptop (from EPS) with a Zip installed (she does a lot of complex demos while on the road and "transportability" is a key issue with her). We have Zip internals in two of our machines (pentium Pro 200 and pentium II 300). I envision the Clik! as having the same utility as Zip, but across a much wider spectrum as many of our appliances (if you can see a camera as an appliance) become "smarter" in the future). It may not last forever, but I think the opportunities attendant to investing in IOM, right now, are incredible. There may be blood in the streets as a result of the Asian crisis (or as hard drive manufacturers battle it out), but this artificial (IMO) dampening of IOM stock may only turn out to be to our advantage within the next few months (or, the whole market could go to hell in a handbasket as Asia collapses - such risk helps make this call more profitable). Good luck in your DD and in your commo with the thread. I'm going out for a bagel and some coffee - will check back in later and see if you make/made any headway. By the way, I saw an interesting attack on Jaz (by name) by Fijitsu in "Internet World". They sell a floptical DynaMO 640. It was a great add for a good product, but (unfortunately for them) it only reinforced the fact that IOM is THE leader in removable media; the leader against which all competitors should be measured and must directly attack (while cutting each others throats in the process, a la Syjunk). Keep having fun. Regards, SapperJack |
