Real shocker. I was beginning to feel good that the establishment Republicans were gaining the upper hand and that democracy would survive due to a healthy opposition.

I don't understand why anyone would think that the upheaval going on in the GOP is something that can be managed by the more moderate GOPers and is simply a passing fad. In fact, the teapers and their cohort intimidate the more moderate RS who are quickly becoming a minority within the party. Many so called Rs are not that far in their thinking from the Bundy ranch extremists. There is a good chance that in the not too distant future, moderate independents and Dems will have to figure out where the line in the sand must be drawn.
