"There are clearly some loose assumptions being made, but there are also some convincing statistics showing the mix of iPhone models shifting out of favor may be more of a concern than the total iPhone sales volume itself."

Skimmed the first article. I saw a lot of the former (loose assumptions) but a not a lot of the latter (convincing statistics). Most of it is based on the Needham estimate of product mix which I discussed previously (total BS), and as to the 4S's price, it's not $349, it's $400-450, same as the 4 last year when it occupied that slot. It was the 4 that has reintroduced at a low price in limited distribution, and Apple said it made up a low single digit percentage.

Apple says that iPhone is selling better at every pricing tier compared to their year ago counterpart, so I take that as indication that the product mix is not changing significantly.
