a tale of 10 other guys:

10 guys bought AMAT at 25. One is a trader, who thinks AMAT is in a trading range of 25 to 30. The other 9 are investors. When the stock hits 30, one guy sells. The other 9 hold. Over the next 6 months AMAT climbs to 40. The trader sits on the sidelines, because he can't see any definite pattern to the irregular upward movements of the stock. Or, he jumps in and out, gaining a point here and losing a point there. Now, who is happy and who is sad?

Since (over the long haul) AMAT goes up more than it goes down, won't this scenario happen more often than yours? I invite you to do what Pat tried to do. Theories are only usefull if someone can show, in a convincing and reproducible fashion, that they work in the real world.
