It's a mess. We had a chance to keep in Iraq a powerful base, away from population centers, which would be a great way to project force - and maintain stability in the region - all at a relatively small cost. Should have done it. Would make much more sense than keeping so many bases in Western Europe. Instead, we will have either Al Qaeda or the Ayatollah in control in Iraq. And that's after all the sacrifice and fighting. Hurts to see this nonsense.
