Really interesting information, HC. I wasn't aware of the volatile environment, guess that's what your comany's safety equipment is all about then. But I'm definitely aware of the high-dielectric nature of polymer films, especially when they are being peeled off rollers and sliding over various idlers, guides, etc. (Years ago I used to demonstrate this to company personnel who handle static-sensitive electronic components by peeling Scotch tape off a small roll next to a neon bulb with a striking voltage in exess of 100V. Everyone was amazed to watch the bulb light up, and it drove the point home very well)

I've been wondering to what basic polymer family the base film that is used in this type battery belongs - could it be PET? It is apparently something that readily accepts plastizisers, since substituting these, which are often light mineral oils, with the elctrolyte is one of the basic process steps in the Valence design. I'm eager to learn more.
