These two have not considered that US companies will start laying off employees when profits start getting hit. We have already seen a fair amount of this and it will continue. My bet is interest rates will trend down. Of course tomorrow I could change my mind. BTW, I don't think US companies will be able to stop profit eroision no matter what they do.

The one group of people that will get all the work they want for a while is software folks to help companies get the y2k problem fixed. This work can not be cancelled.
