The Cylons of the 2003 miniseries and 2004 Battlestar Galactica series are fundamentally different from the Cylons of the original 1978/ 1980 series….

I'd spell it out, but as a picture is worth a thousand words, a video is worth thousand pictures...

`

I just watched the entire Battlestar Galactica series of 4 seasons (where was I when it first came out? Uh...)

Caprica is another series (that lasted one season) which goes into the origins of the Cyclons.

Being only one season with all the soap opera stuff going on it doesn't cover all that much but I found it pretty interesting to watch and it explains a number of things in Battlestar. If you liked Battlestar for more than the CGI effects and tracking and boom boom stuff, then you might like Caprica.

Spoiler:

There's a little bit of Zoe in all Cylons.
