It is a moot point. If it is necessary to "blow up countries" in the Middle East to insure a steady supply of oil, that's what we have to do. That is the risk taken by participating in a cartel.

Oil is necessary for us. We're willing to pay for it, but we cannot tolerate potential supply interruptions.

I've never had any problem at all with the notion that the Iraq War was about national security, and one of those [arguably, the biggest] considerations is to secure the oil supply.
