Hard to argue with some of this, although just taxing the richest isn't necessarily going to help the housing situation in SF. I've seen the majority of my friends with solid middle class careers like web developers and technical writers move out of the city in the last few years, and always the main reason was the cost of rent.

How anyone who is on a lower salary could afford a place to live is beyond me.

If even people who work of tech companies are moving out because of the cost, then you have to wonder at which point are problems going to be cause by a lack of workers for many industries as people just can't afford to live there.

Fair enough - you can have your web developer or writer working remotely, somewhere cheaper to live, but that's not going to work for teachers or gardeners!
