* Idaho’s state Republican Party convention was a bit of a disaster over the weekend: as the gathering degenerated, the convention “adjourned without electing a chairman, setting a platform or doing any of its scheduled business.” Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho), running for House Majority Leader, said he worked for weeks to prevent this fiasco, which may not help his case on Capitol Hill.

* In Mississippi’s U.S. Senate Republican primary, incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran has a new ad targeting challenger Chris McDaniel’s record of extreme rhetoric.

* In related news, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is going on the air in support of Cochran, buying TV time in the state. The runoff primary is a week from tomorrow.
