>>>I think the mother of selling in CSCO will be after new year.<<<

All I know is, the finest indicator of all, revealed the near-term ceiling of CSCO...Merril Lynch. A strong buy at 90 -- they are consistently adept at upgrading at the peaks in charts...notorious for going the extra mile in order to rake more $ in for their fat cat clients. Quite accurate at calling the near bottoms as well.

I forgot what stock it was, but they had issued a strong buy yesterday in the morning, changing their recommendation to a downgrade within a couple hours. Joe Kernan was joking about it.

A few years ago, I had a ML account as well, and I have never experienced such consistently terrible advice...I'm convinced to this day, they recommend stocks to their small clients that their large clients want to exit.

Using a 3 - 6 month time frame, moving the opposite of ML's analyst up/down grades have proved a VERY useful tool for me in determining the flow of institutional capital. The only time I don't move opposite of their public recommendations is when they issue a target price as well (which they rarely do)...that tends to indicate they may actually really be investing according to their advice -- at least according to what I have noticed.

I wonder if JJC used the ML indicator as a factor in his decision -- he is after all, in the fund biz and knows the ropes...and therefore the warning signs.
