WSJ reported this week or last that the Kurds sold 2 million barrels of their own oil via Turkey last year. Turkey supports the nascent state of Kurdia (?) (40 million people in Northern Iraq) now forming. Has solved their own Kurdish problem of Kurdish "rebels" threatening to carve out Turkish enclaves. A win win for both ethnic groups.

Your point here that Turkey no longer fears a strong Kurdish state. My impression, for some time, was that both Turkey and Iran feared that a strong Kurdish state would try to grab territory from each, territory already heavily populated by Kurds and adjacent to the Kurdish section of Iraq. Do you have some sort of reference for that conclusion?
