You have it totally backwards. More and better education is the last thing wanted by conservatives, since science, facts and the ability to think and reason are threats to their biblical scriptures, their religious fundamentalism, and their political power. That's why they try to cut school budgets while promoting home schooling. The more college graduates, the more Democratic (and especially more liberal) the state.
